Wonderful Product July 29, 2010 simplereviewer The Monster iCarPlay Cassette Adapter 800 works as advertised. It has great sound quality for the price and seems to be a product that will last a long while. I have had no problems with a hum or buzz keeping my iPod touch's volume at about 75% and adjusting my car speakers from there (although the info booklet that comes with it suggests keeping the volumes about equal).
The connection to the iPod is very secure and appears just as durable!
Buy this! You will be very happy.
Great sound quality! July 28, 2010 Francis J. Saccone III (Rochester, NY (MCD)) Let me preface this with: I drive a 99 Toyota Camry XLE - Your results may vary!
I had one of the all in one holder/charger/fm-transmitter for my car and the sound quality was awful. I, for some reason, disregarded the cassette adapter as an inferior product when compared to the fm transmitter. So, I have been rocking cd's and radio in my car for a couple years despite my having an 80gb iPod with 11,000 tracks on it. Then, randomly in conversation, a colleague at work mentioned that he had a cassette adapter and it worked great. So, I did some research and found that this product had great sound quality. I bought it.
Now, I never hear any buzzing or feedback from the engine in any form as I read in other reviews. I do, however, hear an obnoxiously annoying clicking sound coming from the tape deck in between songs or when the volume is low or during a quiet part of a song. This only takes place about 5% of the time it is use in my car, but then again I listen to loud music when I am driving. If you are looking to listen to classical music, audio books, ambient techno, or opera this may not be the best idea. Again, this might only happen on the style tape deck that I have, but be warned.
Everything else is great. The cord it just long enough to let me stick my iPod in the cup holder without getting in the way. I used it the first week I received it on a trip to NYC (about 8 hours) and the sound quality never changed. It didn't seem to get hot or anything that may cause wear and/or tear. Overall I would say that outside of the clicking (that is unrelentingly annoying to me for some reason) this is worth the $20 or so that you can pick it up for.
It Does The Job Well... July 25, 2010 Joseph Goria (L.A. CA USA) I received this hoping it could duplicate the sound I had from my old busted 'Realistic Cassette Adapter' that Radio Shack no longer makes. It does the job quite well, as I like listening to out of market FM stations like KFOG and KCBS SF, The Shore 104.3 from Vancouver, BC Canada and The Mix 94.5 from Spanish Fork, Utah. I have no problems whatsoever, and I actually like the ease of getting it without the long, long cord from my previous adapter. Four stars overall. JG
It;s a joke! July 18, 2010 I. MAN This is one of the worst product I bought from Amazon. How can you put Monster name on this product, not even worth to be OEM grade.
Not to mention the tape can't stick to one side, it;s kept rejecting from car stereo. The sound just unbearable to listen. Lucky, I found my 80's SONY discman cassette adapter, I used it. It liked heaven, sound just so smooth. I hope it will give me few more yr before I buy my new car.
Complete waste of money July 17, 2010 JA I used this twice and the sound quality was absolutely terrible. It has now broken and isn't usable at all. A complete waste of money. Unfortunately, I threw away the packaging and can't return it.
