I had this case and I dropped my phone face down and my screen completely shattered. Waste of 35 bucks. Looks good, but you might as well just keep the phone without a case because this case does nothing to protect the phone if you drop it face down.
Some drawbacks but worth the purchaseMarch 15, 2010 James Schindler My brother had recently gotten a white speck candy shell case and was really please with his purchase. His iPhone looked well protected and also kept the sleek style of the iPhone. I was impressed so I picked up the black version of this case.
The good: Protects your iPhone and provides a sleek design to keep the classic iPhone feel/look.
The bad: About a week ago my brother was telling me that the front of his case cracked while trying to take it off, the part he is referring to is the strip below the home button. I was disappointed to hear this, and just two days ago I noticed a crack starting along that same strip of casing. This could be user error, but since it happened twice to two different people it isn't likely. I also have had problems connecting larger earphone jacks to the iPhone due to the case, I have had to take off the case numerous times in order to play music on my stereo. The only other drawback was simply the fact that my case seems to have prevented some scratches, but in the process has acquired hundreds/thousands of "mini scratches" which are very noticeable under bright light. This isn't too big of an issue because I'd rather have them on my case than on my iPhone, but it makes my case look much older than it actually is.
Crash Helmet for your iPhoneMarch 10, 2010 Sledguy(Oklahoma City, OK USA) While there are other very large and rugged cases available, this case provides great protection in a slim size. The case is essentially constructed like a crash helmet. It has a hard outer shell to spread impact load and an inner lining to absorb energy. This arrangement provides more protection than a thick silicone case alone. Mine is black like the phone so many people don't notice it is there at all. The earphone plug hole is small so you may need to enlarge it slightly (which may weaken the case) or find cables with small enough ends.
Speck Candy Shell for iPhone 3GSMarch 9, 2010 KR-Texas(Texas, United States) The product lives up to its promise of providing superior protection for my iPhone 3GS. It is bulkier than my previous clear case, but it has much better protection on the front edge. It slides in and out of my pocket with ease and the rubber on the front keeps it from getting scratched when I lay it face down.
It is hard to remove the phone from the case, but I followed the instructions on Speck's web site and was finally able to get it off. I felt I was going to seperate the rubber corners from the shell before I watched their video on how to do it. The back has fine scratches from carrying it in my front jeans pocket without anything else, but I guess that is better than scratching the phone itself.
Overall, I think it was a great purchase for under $20 and I have also bought a white one for my wife's iPhone. (The white does not show the fine scratches as much as my black one)

But nothing comes close to it-
I used the casemate vroom for a month but everytime you
pull out the phone - along comes your pocketing - which
is very embarresing-
I also tried a chinese hard case but dust would get inside
and it had no drop protection.
So some goggling later finalised on the candyshell-
